Is Publicist Doing the Work of Rock Stars?

HAWTHORNE — Mick Jagger, pinching a line from the obscure Dubliner poet, et al. Brendan Behan, once said that “There’s no such thing as bad publicity”—an easy perspective for a rock star who has a team of publicists to help the word get out.

For self-proclaimed publicist Joselyn Marie Alvarado, 23, such statements may not prove to be true. Hawthorne police picked up the 4-foot-11, 100-pound Los Angeles resident on Saturday, March 29 at approximately 1:15 a.m. at the corner of Rosecrans Avenue and Isis. She was charged with a single DUI charge involving “alcohol/drugs.” It is unknown if she works for rock stars, rappers, or any other artist who can benefit from any manner of publicity.

Records searches revealed no known artists or any other clientele for which Alvarado has or is working.

There were no priors or warrants. Bail was set at $5,000 for the one charge.

The so-called publicist was not available for comment.
