Inyokern Man Arrested After Brief Standoff with SWAT

INYOKERN — A 39-year-old Inyokern man was arrested on Monday following a brief standoff with deputies and SWAT.

David Russell Dubois was booked into the Ridgecrest jail for assault with a deadly weapon, terrorist threats and brandishing a weapon. His bail has been set at $50,000.

According to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responding to a call of an assault with a tire iron in the 7600 block of Sahara Avenue in Inyokern, at about 1:45 p.m. on January 26, arrived and contacted Dubois, who told them he was going get a gun.

He then proceed to his residence in the 7600 block of Solo Avenue in Inyokern where deputies, who were armed with a search warrant, established a perimeter and called in the SWAT team based on the information Dubois may be armed.

The SWAT team responded and eventfully entered the home were Dubois was hiding, but after a search, found no firearms.
