“Ice Cream Man” Gets Charged for Tinted Windows, More

INGLEWOOD, CA—It’s election season in Inglewood, and it’s no surprise that an ice cream man has been charged for having tinted windows.

Rey David Rendon, 41, was apparently stopped by Inglewood Police Department (IPD) for having tinted windows. The Bloomington, California resident was also charged with possession of a controlled substance (11378HS), false identification (148.9(A)PC), failure to present I.D. to a peace officer (40302(A)VC), driving without a license (12500(A)VC) and tinted windows (26708.5(A)VC). There was also a warrant issued by the Los Angeles Police department (LAPD) for a failure to appear on a written plea (40508(A)VC).

According to a Facebook page that is apparently representative of Bloomington and which is one of the few on-line resources available, Bloomington “is an unincorporated census-designated place (CDP) in San Bernardino County, California, United States[…with a] population [of] 23,851 at the 2010 census, up from 19,318 at the 2000 census.”

Bail amounts for the self-professed “ice cream man” ranged wildly. At the low end, the tinted windows charge was set at a pithy $25 and the failure to appear charge was set at $553. At the high end, the false I.D. bail was set at $5,000 and the controlled substance charge was set at $30,000.

It is unknown if Rendon will be out in time for summer of 2015.
