Hollister Police Arrest Two In Connection To Shooting

Suspects Were Wanted For An Easter Sunday Attempted Homicide

HOLLISTER—Investigators with the Hollister Police Department have made two arrests in connection with an Easter Sunday fight that left a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.  Investigators arrested 21-year-old Blake Lopez and 19-year-old Roy Maldonado both of Hollister.  Police are still looking for the third suspect, 22-year-old Larry Quiroz, also of Hollister.

On Easter Sunday at 12:30 p.m., Officers with the Hollister Police Department responded to a report of a shooting on the 800 block of Washington Street.  When Police arrived they discovered that a male victim had been shot three times with a rifle.  Police learned that a fight had occurred and one of the suspects retrieved the rife from a vehicle and shot the victim.

Easter Sunday was interrupted by a fight and shooting on Washington Street.

After the shooting the suspects fled the area in a gray single cab pickup, possibly a Chevrolet. The incident was being investigated as gang related.

On April 24, San Benito County Sheriff Deputy Zander located and arrested Lopez and turned him over to the Hollister Police.  He was booked into the San Benito County Jail on attempted murder charges.

On May 9 at 10:45 p.m., a concerned citizen reported gang activity in the 1200 block of Sherwood Drive.  Unfortunately for Maldonado, the officer that came out to investigate the activity was none other than Officer Toribio, who always gets his man – he recognized Maldonado and took him into custody without incident. Maldonado was also booked into the San Benito County Jail on attempted murder charges.

The Hollister Police Department has issued a $950,000 warrant for the arrest of the third suspect, Larry Quiroz.  He is described as Hispanic, 22-years of age, brown hair, brown eyes, six feet tall and 180 pounds.

“We are asking the for assistance from the community in locating Quiroz.” Hollister Police Detective Sergeant Dan Winn wrote in a press release, “We request that no citizen take it upon themselves to apprehend Quiroz, we encourage the community to call us with the information on his whereabouts.”

The Hollister Police Department request that if you have information that can assist in this investigation please contact gang Officer Weiss at 1-831-636-4330.
