Gun-Toting Felon Arrested Near Proposed Rams Stadium

INGLEWOOD, CA—The area around the Forum (re-opened in January, 2014) and the recently proposed Rams stadium has long been rife with shooting homicides, high-speed car crashes and some of the small charter city’s highest rates of violent crime.

Cedric Derwon Wilson, Jr., 35, was arrested by Inglewood police officers on Sunday, January 25 at approximately 11:15 p.m. He was stopped at the corner of Prairie Avenue and Century Boulevard, a busy intersection that is immediately southwest of where an 80,000-seat stadium that Rams owner Stan Kroenke has proposed should be built for his St. Louis, MO-based NFL team. It is also a short distance from the nearly 20,000-seat music venue owned by Madison Square Garden, the Forum.

The Los Angeles resident, said to be a construction worker, was charged with nine felonies and one misdemeanor: owning/possessing a firearm by a felon (29800(A)1PC), owning/possessing a firearm in violation of a condition of probation (29815(A)PC), owning/possessing a concealed firearm (29900(A)1PC), taking a controlled substance into a prison/jail/etc. (4573PC), possessing/purchasing/etc. cocaine base for distribution (11351.5HS), possessing marijuana/hashish for sale (11359HS), illegally possessing ammunition (30305(A)1PC), carrying a loaded firearm in a public place (25850(A)PC) and perhaps the most ludicrous when so many felonious violations are involved, driving with a suspended license (14601.1AVC).

The total bail set was $270,300.
