Gang Task Force Sweep Leads to the Arrest of Twelve

MORENO VALLEY – Targeting known gang members in Moreno Valley, a task force swept through the city on a probation compliance check that netted a dozen arrests.

The Riverside County Regional Gang Task Force, a team composed of 25 local, state and federal law enforcement agencies within Riverside County, organized a Moreno Valley sweep. On June 26, 2014, the task force implemented a gang saturation operation, targeting 25 predetermined probation compliance checks that targeted documented gang members. The officers also instituted a high visibility saturation patrol that focused on areas known to be frequented by gang members.

The Gang Task Force made the following arrests:

  • Julio Mandujano, 26 years, violation of probation
  • Gregory Smith, 27 years, violation of parole
  • Giovanni Cayetano, 18 years, violation of probation
  • Jose Gonzalez, possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and drug paraphernalia
  • William Eubank, 21 years, violation of parole
  • Thomas McDonald, outstanding felony warrant (narcotics possession)
  • Christian Soto, 20 years, possession of loaded firearm (9mm handgun), possession of stolen property and possession of marijuana with intent to sell
  • Raul Figueroa, 46 years, outstanding felony warrants for possession of stolen property and possession of a controlled substance
  • Droshan Gross, 30 years, violation of probation
  • Rashad Waites, 33 years, violation of probation
  • Richard Johnson, 30 years, possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine)
  • A male juvenile was also arrested for possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine)

 

According to Sergeant Jeff S. Weaver, the Riverside County Gang Task Force is “A collaborative effort combining peace officers, probation officers, parole agents, federal agents, and prosecutors whose common objective is to provide targeted intelligence gathering, enforcement, investigation and vigorous prosecution of gang members engaged in criminal activity.” The Task Force also collaborates with local schools and community organization to provide education, intervention and prevention support.
