The chase between the suspect and police began around 6:40 p.m. when the Violent Crime Impact Team, with the Fresno Police Department, saw a stolen 1998 Ford Explorer being driven near First Street and Princeton Avenue.

The suspect apparently spotted the police following, and took off toward Highway 168, running red lights along the way. The driver reached excessive speeds on the highway during the chase, and a police helicopter was brought in to help track him.

Blanco left the stolen vehicle near the Bullard Avenue exit and tried to run away, but officers from the Fresno Police Department, Clovis Police Department and Fresno County Sheriff’s Department used search dogs to locate the suspect, who was found hiding inside the garage of an apartment, authorities said.
