Gang Member Arrested for Attempted Murder

On July 7, two Pomona residents were shot in the 700 block of E. Seventh Street. Neither of them were killed, but both were severely injured. Pomona police were able to identify the suspect, however, he took a little family vacation to Mexico right after the shooting.

The suspect was identified as Jose Luis Ayala, a Eastside Clover gang member. Ayala was already on parole for a previous assault with a deadly weapon conviction. The District’s Attorney’s office filed two counts of attempted murder, and an arrest warrant was issued.

According to the report, the California Department of Corrections Fugitive Apprehension Team found out that Ayala was on a trip to Mexico with his family as Pomona detectives were searching from him.

On Wednesday, July 23, as Ayala was returning to the “land of the free”, he found out that he wasn’t going to be free for a long time. Ayala was arrested by US Marshals and Border Patrol agents near San Ysidro. Ayala was then transported to Pomona, where he was booked and now awaits arraignment.
