Fresno Firefighter Accused of Rape

FRESNO – A firefighter with the Fresno Fire Department was arrested Friday morning on accusations that he raped a young woman who he met at a bar the night before.

The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office arrested 36-year-old Jeffrey Sanchez and booked him into the Fresno County Jail on suspicion of rape, sexual penetration with a foreign object and oral copulation.

A 19-year-old woman told detectives that she and some of her friends went to a bar, where they wound up meeting some men. The group then went back to Sanchez’s home where they continued to have drinks, the sheriff’s department stated.

Sanchez later allegedly took the victim into a bedroom and forced her into having sex.

Detectives interviewed witnesses and collected evidence at the scene before taking Sanchez into custody. Sanchez has already posted bond, which was set at $105,000, and bailed out of jail.

Sanchez has been placed on paid administrative leave from the fire department pending the outcome of the investigation.
