Fresno bathroom break in leads to two arrests

A bathroom break-in leads to two arrests for the Fresno County Sheriff’s Department on Tuesday morning in central Fresno.

The sheriff’s department announced the arrest of two males in their late twenties on Wednesday, who were booked in connection to a hot prowl burglary on the 2000 block of Mayfair Drive East, which is between the cross streets of Clinton and McKinley Avenues.

Jason Miles Bailey

Arrested were Tony Lee, 29, and Jason Miles Bailey, 28.

Sheriff’s spokesman Chris Curtice said that a 20-year-old female, who was the only one inside the Mayfair residence, didn’t respond to her doorbell being rung and saw a vehicle drive away.

“The 20-year-old female victim reported that she was home alone when the two subjects, later identified as Lee and Bailey, came to the door and rang the doorbell. She did not know the subjects so she didn’t answer the door,” Curtice said. “Whereupon, both got into a white colored SUV and drove away.”

However, once the female went back inside, she witnessed an uninvited guest inside her house.

“A few minutes later, the victim confronted one of the subjects who had apparently entered the home through a bathroom window,” Curtice said. “The suspect immediately fled. The victim called the sheriff’s office and was able to give a detailed description of the suspect and the vehicle.”

Deputies responded and caught the suspect vehicle near East Weldon and North Archie Avenues, which is down the street from Cedar Avenue in West Fresno.

“When the vehicle pulled over, Bailey was immediately detained while Lee fled on foot,” Curtice said. “A perimeter was set up in the area and a search initiated. A short time, a sheriff’s canine discovered Lee hiding in a yard a short distance from the traffic stop.”

Both men were charged with burglary and booked into Fresno County Jail. Lee also had outstanding burglary warrants for his arrest.
