Former Fraternity Head Arrested

San Luis Obispo police arrested Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity president Gear McMillian, 22, on Thursday after serving a warrant at the house.

According to SLOPD, they were investigating a recent armed robbery attempt at the fraternity house involving the arrest of five Cal Poly football players. Investigators discovered the robbery attempt may have been motivated by the suspects’ intent to steal cash and illegal drugs from the fraternity, which is located at 244 California in San Luis Obispo.

Investigators learned where narcotics were being stored, distributed and sold from specific rooms located within the fraternity house. They then obtained a search warrant from a judge with the San Luis Obispo County Superior Court to search for illegal drugs and indicia of drug sales from those specific locations within the fraternity complex.

On Thursday around 7:20 a.m. SLOPD personnel, along with Deputies from the San Luis Obispo County Sherriff’s Department and Investigators from the San Luis Obispo County District Attorney’s Office, searched specific locations at the Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity.

During the search, investigators discovered McMillian was in possession of marijuana for sales. McMillian was arrested and booked into SLO County Jail on charges of possessing marijuana for sales and possession of a controlled substance in the form of non-prescription medication.
