BAKERSFIELD — Two men wanted in connection with two Bakersfield burglaries earlier this month were arrested last Friday, thanks to an alert Facebook follower.
Jared Ward, 25, and 18-year-old Katerran McCray, both of Bakersfield, were booked into the Kern County Jail for possession of stolen property, conspiracy and participation in a criminal street gang.
According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the two were being sought by police for two burglaries that were committed on Monday, August 3, and Thursday, August 13. The suspects had forced entry into the victims’ residences and stole items, including a MacBook laptop computer, which the suspects tried to later have activated at a Bakersfield computer store.
However, the owner of the store questioned the suspects about the computer, and they fled leaving the computer behind. A description of both suspects and the car they were driving were released to the public.
A few days later, police received information from a Facebook follower who positively identified the suspects, and they were taken into custody at about 2:30 p.m. on Friday, August 14, at a residence on the 5000 block of Appleblossom Drive in Bakersfield.
