Elementary Teacher Arrested on Charges of Lewd Acts with Students

FRESNO – Authorities arrested a Washington Unified School District teacher on Wednesday night after an investigation revealed that he had allegedly performed lewd acts with students.

Victor Oxvaldo Gomez, 39, was working as a teacher at American Union Elementary School near Easton when school officials received reports in April 2014 that he had touched female students, officials said.

Six students were involved in the alleged incidents, which occurred during school and during an after-school program, according to the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies arrested Gomez at his home in the 1900 block of South Fifth Street on Wednesday, according to the sheriff’s office.

Gomez posted a $180,000 bond. He is expected in court on January 21.

Washington Unified School District placed Gomez on administrative leave.
