Eastvale Robbery Sting Nets Arrests, Narcotics and Stolen Property

EASTVALE –  After several residents lodged complaints regarding ongoing vehicle burglaries in local shopping centers, the Eastvale Police Department decided to take action. Over a period of several weeks, plain clothes officers staked out areas around Hamner Avenue and Limonite Avenue. The Eastvale Police Special Enforcement Team (SET) officers worked closely with the Eastvale patrol officers and Eastvale investigators in an effort to quell the rise in crime.

During the sting, officers were able to catch suspects in the act of allegedly committing crimes, and several people were taken into custody for various theft and narcotics-related violations. According to a press release from the Riverside Sheriff’s Department, of the several arrests, two were especially notable during this enforcement operation.

On Thursday, June 18, plain clothes officers witnessed a suspect in the act of burglarizing a locked vehicle located in the Eastvale shopping center. The suspect was immediately taken into custody. On Monday, June 22, another suspect was arrested in the Eastvale shopping center on an outstanding arrest warrant. The arrest of the second suspect led officers to a residence in Eastvale, where authorities discovered and confiscated a large amount of narcotics, and also recovered stolen property that was linked to another theft from a vehicle.

During this operation, Eastvale officers arrested the following suspects:

29-year-old Corona resident, Michael Cole – Parole violation

19-year-old Riverside resident, David Arroyo – Possession of a controlled substance and burglary

40-year-old Eastvale resident, Willie Abarca – Possession of a controlled substance for sale

“The Eastvale Police Department will continue to conduct traditional and plainclothes enforcement in areas where crimes are reported and where enforcement activities are deemed to be most effective,” said Lieutenant Scott Forbes.
