Dine and Dash at Sneakers

San Carlos, CA – March 2, 2013

Patrick Higgins must have been really hungry, or just really stupid. He was on parole in Marin County when he stopped off for some lunch at Sneaker’s Restaurant in San Carlos. Higgins ordered and ate $70 worth of food, and then ran out the rear alley door without paying, according to restaurant employees.

A San Mateo County Sheriff’s Community Services Officer was working parking enforcement nearby when a diner from the restaurant informed her that Sneakers’ employees were chasing someone through the Wells Fargo parking lot.  The employees flagged own a San Mateo County Sheriff Deputy who had responded to the call and was in the area.

According to Deputy Rebecca Rosenblatt, Higgins “was found walking south on Elm Street.” He was detained, identified by restaurant employees, and booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility in Redwood City on a charge of burglary, and earned a parole violation as well.

Sneakers Pub & Grill is promoted as a “comfortable casual dining experience with class” that offers a wide variety of appetizers, burgers, sandwiches, pizza, salads, Tex-Mex, and a kids menu. “Great food, high energy, honest friendly people & fun are the keys to our success” they state on their website. The restaurant opened in 1992 on San Carlos Avenue.
