Delano Shooting Suspects Arrested in Tulare County

DELANO — A pair of suspects accused of shooting from a moving vehicle at a another vehicle were arrested in Tulare Country on Thursday.

David Ruiz-Padilla, 22, and 34-year-old Edward Cuellar were booked into the Central Receiving Facility in Bakersfield. Cueller is facing charges of shooting at an occupied vehicle, assault with a deadly weapon, negligent discharge of a firearm, accessory and conspiracy charges. He is currently being held without bail.

Padilla, meanwhile, is being held on $507,500 bail on charges of charges of possession of a firearm and ammunition by a prohibited person and being under the influence of a controlled substance while being armed with a loaded firearm.

According the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began at around noon on Monday, August 25 when deputies responded to a call regarding a car-to-car shooting in the area of Highway 65 and Sherwood Avenue in Delano. Upon their arrival, deputies said they discovered three victims who told them they had been shot at by the driver of an older purple Ford Ranger pick-up truck. The victims did not sustain any injuries.

A short time later, officers from the California Highway Patrol located the suspect vehicle and initiated a traffic stop near Ducor in Tulare County. While searching the suspects, officers found a handgun in one of the occupant’s waistband.
