The Citizen Called The Chief of Police

HOLLISTER—Officers with the Hollister Police Department arrested 20-year-old Isaac Hernandez and 20-year-old Keegan Bielejec both of Hollister after a citizen’s complaint led to finding one in possession of illegal narcotics and one under the influence of a controlled substance at a local skate park.

On August 8, Hollister Police Chief David Westrick was contacted by an anonymous citizen who reported seeing suspected drug activity just outside Veterans Memorial Park and the Skate Park. Hollister Police Officer Bill Hutchison responded to the area on the complaint.

Officer Hutchison contacted Hernandez, and after a brief investigation, found that he was in possession of illegal narcotics.  Officer Hutchison also arrested Bielejec after he appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance.

The two were transported and booked into the San Benito County Jail.  They face charges of possession of a controlled substance and being under the influence of a controlled substance. Hernandez has a previous arrest in November of last year for driving under the influence, with blood alcohol level over .08%.

“I want to personally thank the citizen for stepping up and taking a stand. Last year I made a commitment to work with the community to help clean our parks of illegal activity.”  Hollister Police Chief David Westrick wrote in a press release. “This is a good example of that. We truly need the community to help us rid our parks, facilities and streets of this kind of illegal activity. Drug users and those that sell drugs should be getting a very clear message that there’s no place for them in our town, we’ve had enough. Please keep those calls coming, it is really working”

The Hollister Police Department would like to remind everyone that if they see or have information regarding illegal activity to contact them at 831-636-4331.
