Bakersfield Robbery Suspect Arrested

BAKERSFIELD — A convicted felon suspected of robbing a fast food restaurant in southwest Bakersfield is now behind bars.

Rodney Parker, 53, of Bakersfield was arrested for robbery, resisting arrest with violence, vandalism and for violating parole. Parker is currently at Kern Medical Center and will be booked into the Kern County Jail once he has been medically cleared.

According to the Bakersfield Police Department, Parker is suspected of robbing the Jack in the Box restaurant located at 5656 California Avenue at around 4 p.m. on Aug. 28. Police said that Parker entered the restaurant, brandished a knife at employees and demanded money. Parker then fled the Jack in the Box on a bicycle with the money.

When officers arrived, they began to search the immediate area and eventually located Parker near the area of Rio Bravo Drive and Dagget Avenue, just a short distance away from where the robbery took place.

Although Parker resisted arrest, he was eventually taken into custody, During a search of Parker’s person, officers said they found a knife and money.
