Arcata Bank Robber Suspected in Earlier Santa Rosa Knockover

Arcata Bank Robber Suspected in Earlier Santa Rosa Knockover

It started off in Santa Rosa, where on November 27th we found Santa Rosa Police responding to a report of a bank robbery at around 4:45 p.m. The bank in question, the Bank of America located at 2420 Sonoma Avenue, had been visited by an unassuming man — described as approximately 5-foot-10 with a thin build, blue eyes, and grey hair — who approached the teller and handed her a note declaring a robbery, although no weapon was seen and nobody was harmed.

He fled the bank with an undisclosed amount of money and promptly disappeared. A search of the surrounding area turned up no trace.

That was until this past Monday, December 2nd, when 63-year-old Stephen Long of Windham, Maine was arrested in connection with a bank robbery in Arcata. The FBI, which also investigates bank robberies, notified Santa Rosa PD of the similarities between each robbery’s suspect.

Based on descriptions, information received, and other evidence, Santa Rosa PD believes Long is also the man responsible for the Bank of America incident and intend to press charges.
