Suspect arrested in alleged murder of 77-year-old Arroyo Grande woman

An 18-year-old from Fresno has been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection to the death of an elderly Arroyo Grande woman.

Authorities say Kayonie Elias Mendibles was wanted for the murder of 77-year-old Jeanine Vore, who was found dead at her home in rural Arroyo Grande on November 27.

Witnesses claimed to have seen Mendibles fleeing the area in his vehicle. Upon identifying him as the primary suspect, the Sheriff’s Office issued a BOLO alert.

The next day, November 28, deputies working the South County area reportedly spotted Mendibles’ vehicle being driven through Arroyo Grande and conducted a high-risk stop on northbound 101 in Pismo Beach.

After confirming his identity, deputies arrested Mendibles on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody at the San Luis Obispo County Jail.
