This afternoon Officers with VSTF and patrol pulled over a vehicle in the area of N. Main and Iris Dr.
The vehicle failed to yield, driving a short distance and pulling into an apartment complex driveway.
Before the vehicle came to a complete stop the passenger, Steven Moreno (33), jumped out and began running.
As officers gave chase Moreno tossed a bag near a bush. Moreno was taken into custody a short distance away.
The driver, Rita Salas (33), was taken into custody at the stop. The bag that Moreno had thrown contained 2lbs of meth and an additional 4 ounces was located on the suspects and in the vehicle.
Both Moreno and Salas were lodged at Monterey County jail for warrants and possession of meth for sales charges.
