Hollister Police have arrested a man on suspicion of arson in connection to a structure fire on the 400 block of Vista Hill Court.

Just before 6 AM on September 5, officers and firefighters arrived on scene to find one of the boarded up city buildings on fire. Police say that by the time it was extinguished, the fire had burned about 70% of the building.

Fortunately, witnesses in the area were able to provide investigators with a description of the suspect, who was seen fleeing the building as the fire spread. Not long after that, investigators happened upon 32-year-old Jorge Sanchez Reyes, a local transient, who happened to match said description.

Further investigation turned up enough cause to arrest Reyes on suspicion of arson, and he is currently being held at the San Benito County Jail.
