Driver fires shot at officers, arrested later with his passenger

The Beaumont Police Department reports on the arrest of two people after a pursuit of their vehicle in this Facebook story-
“On August 29, 2020, at approximately 9:05 am, Beaumont Police Officers attempted to stop a driver in the area of 7th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue.
The driver of the vehicle failed to yield, and a short vehicle pursuit was initiated. The driver fled from the vehicle in the 1200 block of Antonell Court and while fleeing fired a single gunshot from a firearm he was carrying. The officers located the suspect and the firearm inside of a recreation vehicle a short distance away. A female passenger was located in the suspect’s vehicle.
No injuries were reported, and both the driver and his passenger were detained. Jerry Ray Elliott, age 38, of Banning, was arrested for evading an officer, possession of narcotics, felon in possession of a firearm, and violation of parole. The female passenger was arrested for a misdemeanor warrant. Police officers did not discharge their firearms during this incident.
