Woodland Gang Task Force takes more guns off the streets

“This week, a total of six firearms were taken off the street by patrol and the Woodland Gang Task Force. Two of these were located after alert community members called in to report them. We appreciate this “See something, say something” attitude, you are the eyes and ears of this community, thank you for your help.
Last night, at about 5:20 pm, officers were dispatched to the area of Yolano Dr regarding a report of a firearm being brandished.
Officers from patrol, probation and the Woodland Gang Task arrived and quickly located the subjects on the north side of the complex. 30 year old, Woodland resident Alejandro Lopez, a validated gang member on felony probation who was recently released from prison, was contacted. With the help of K9 Niko Lopez’s vehicle was searched resulting in the location of a Sig Sauer 40 caliber pistol with a loaded magazine. Lopez was placed under arrest for the firearm.
A search of one of the other males, who was described to be the subject in possession of the firearm, was conducted and a Taurus brand .22 caliber pistol was found in his waistband. The subject, a male juvenile and Woodland resident was also placed under arrest. Both subjects were booked for a number of weapons related charges with gang enhancements.
On Monday 8/17/20 at approximately 3:06 pm the Woodland Gang Task Force and Yolo Co. Probation Officers conducted a Probation Search on 20 year old, Woodland resident Luis Hernandez at his workplace. Hernandez was in possession of a loaded 9mm pistol. He was arrested and booked for weapons violations, a probation violation and gang enhancements.”
