Butte County Sheriff: Magalia man accused of sexually abusing child

Magalia, CA – In August of 2020, Butte County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) deputies and detectives received information Charles Campos of Magalia, 57, had sexually abused a minor victim. Deputies and detectives immediately began an investigation. During the investigation a minor victim under the age of 14 disclosed Campos had recently sexually abused the minor victim.

On August 24, deputies contacted Campos at a residence in Magalia. During the contact with Campos, deputies located evidence related to the sexual abuse of the minor victim. Detectives assisted deputies with the investigation, and additional evidence was located related to the sexual abuse of the minor victim. On the evening of August 24, deputies placed Campos under arrest for a felony count of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under the age of 14.

Campos was booked at the Butte County Jail on the evening of August 24. Campos’ bail was set at $50,000. Campos is scheduled to be arraigned at the Butte County Superior Court on Thursday, August 27, at 3 PM. The Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with additional information regarding Campos to contact Detective Brian Mollath at 530-538-7671.”
