“On Sunday, August 9, 2020 at approximately 2:00 pm, deputies from the Buttonwillow and Wasco Substations were dispatched to the area of Wildwood Road at Highway 46 for a report of shots fired.

During the course of the investigation, deputies determined Jose Perez, 44 years old from Wasco, had discharged a handgun in a negligent manner from a moving vehicle.

Perez was located in the 600 block of North Maple Avenue approximately 30 minutes later. During the service of a search warrant, deputies located a handgun and other illegal items.

Perez was arrested and booked into the Kern County Jail for Negligent Discharge of a Firearm, Discharging a Firearm from a Vehicle, along with other felony and misdemeanor charges.”
