Vallecito man arrested on suspicion of elder abuse

A Vallecito man has been arrested on suspicion of elder abuse and other charges, after allegedly pushing his grandfather during an argument and standing off with responding deputies.

Around 10:30 AM on July 31, a resident called police from the 3000 block of Juniper Road to report they’d just witnessed Cory Virgil Baugh (37) push his 77-year-old grandfather to the ground during an argument.

While deputies were en route, dispatch received a second call claiming that Baugh was on a “rampage,” behaving erratically, throwing items around the property, and threatening to kill people.

Deputies soon arrived to find that Baugh had barricaded himself inside the house.

At that point, deputies and officers from the Angels Camp Police Department set up a perimeter and cautioned the neighbors to remain inside while negotiations were underway.

After initial attempts at negotiation were unsuccessful, personnel from the Sheriff’s Office Crisis Negotiation Team were called to the scene and managed to talk Baugh out of the house.

Baugh was arrested without further incident and booked on suspicion of elder abuse and criminal threats.
