A Shasta County woman has been arrested for allegedly sexually abusing a child who used to be in her care.

On June 15th, the Shasta County Sheriff’s Department Major Crimes Unit was advised of possible sexual contact between a foster parent and child. The child was removed from the parent’s care and an investigation began.

Authorities say multiple witnesses confirmed the allegations, identifying 29-year-old Ashley Michalek of Anderson as the suspect in question.

Michalek reportedly confessed to the allegations in a subsequent interview.

She was arrested without incident at her home on July 16 and booked on suspicion of lewd and lascivious acts with a minor under 14, sexual penetration with a minor under 14, and providing marijuana to a minor.

She is held on $500,000 bond.
