Verbal altercation, gunshots, lead to arrest in Junction City

Just after noon on July 2 a call came in to the Trinity County Sheriff’s Office about gunshots during a verbal altercation.

Officers came to the residence and encountered 71-year-old Raymiond Fullerton who, in spite of “several indicators of alcohol intoxication,” denied any disturbance  and denied shooting a gun.

Then the victim called dispatch from the Junction City Store. He told a different story.

The victim reported that there had indeed been a verbal altercation and that, while he was driving away, he heard several gunshots and saw “bullets striking the ground near the vehicle” he was departing in.

Officers detained Fullerton and, with a search warrant, discovered several firearms and spent casings in his residence.

The suspect was charged with 246.3 PC – willfully discharges a firearm in a grossly negligent manner which could result in injury or death.
