The Salinas Police Department came into contact with a DUI driver who ended up injuring one of their officers –

“On 6-26-2020 at 9:05 PM, officers were investigating a call in the 500 block of Williams Rd. Their vehicles were stopped in the slow lane one in front of the other with their lights on.

One officer was in the patrol car in front when an Audi rear ended the rear patrol car sending it into the front patrol car.

The officer suffered minor injuries and was transported to the hospital as a precaution where was treated and later released.

The driver of the Audi, Emiliano Gonzalez (31) was contacted and showed obvious signs of intoxication.

The investigation revealed Gonzalez was unlicensed and driving while under the influence. After he was checked at the hospital, he was booked into county jail on the listed charges.

As we approach the 4th of July holiday, the Salinas Police Department encourages the public to be responsible and safe over Independence Day Weekend by not driving impaired.”
