Minor traffic accident yields arrest of two for drugs, gun

The Palm Springs Police Department relates the details of an accident and the resultant arrests that followed –

“Incident Details: On 06/23/2020 at about 10:30pm, PSPD officers conducted a traffic stop in the 400 Block of Amado Road on a vehicle for a minor traffic violation. A records check revealed the driver, Michael Fisher (10-15-96 Male Resident of Beaumont, CA) was on AB109 Post-Release Community Supervision (PRCS).

The passenger was identified as Abbeygail Chavez (04-04-97 Female Resident of Beaumont, CA). During the investigation, an unregistered loaded firearm was found hidden inside the vehicle along with suspected methamphetamine. Fisher and Chavez were arrested and later transported to the Smith Correctional Facility in Banning, CA. Their charges include:

HS 11370.1 (Possession of controlled substance while armed)
PC 29800(a)(1) (Felon in possession of a firearm)
PC 25850(a) (Carry concealed weapon in vehicle)
PC 30305(a)(1) (Felon in possession of ammunition)
PC 3455 (PRCS Violation)

Fisher and Chavez are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
