Robbing looters caught leaving ransacked jewlery store

On June 2 around 12:30 a.m., a large group of looters wreaked havoc at a shopping center at 678 N. Wilson way. Yberra’s Jewlers was the scene of the crime.

The criminals scurried away and fled when officers arrived. One vehicle, leaving at a high rate of speed, did not pull over at officer’s commands.

For 5 minutes and 8 miles a chase ensued. The driver exceeded 100 m.p.h. in the attempt to flee.

The suspect hit a post near the 99 off-ramp exit and stopped. Three suspects then fled from the vehicle. Two of them were caught.

23-year-old Wayne Brooks and 24-year-old Daniel Ruffin were arrested. The business suffered over $30,000 in damages.

“The Stockton Police Department is encouraging anyone with information to call our non-emergency number at (209) 937-8377 or the Investigations Division at (209) 937-8323. Stockton Crime Stoppers will pay a cash reward up to $10,000 for any information that leads to arrest.”
