Grocery Store Robbery Getaway Driver Arrested, Partner Still on the Loose

About 2:17 AM on Monday, March 9, 2020, a man wearing an orange hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans entered the Food-4-Less grocery store on 8921 North Chestnut in Fresno.

He grabbed himself a popcorn bag and walked to the cash register. As the cashier began checking him out, the suspect produced what appeared to be a black, semi-automatic handgun from his waistband and told the cashier to hand over the money from the register.

The cashier fearfully complied, after which the suspect fled in a nearby vehicle. Robbery Detective Galaviz was assigned the case and through her investigation identified 21-year old Chandler Johns-Beardsley as the driver of the getaway car.

On May 20, 2020 members of the Street Violence Bureau’s Tactical Team took Beardsley into custody. He admitted involvement in the grocery store robbery.

The weapon used during the commission of the crime was also recovered. It was determined to be a replica air-soft handgun.

The suspect who entered the store was identified as 20-year old Logan Mills, a transient. The Fresno Police Department requests the public’s assistance in looking Mills.
