Armed Probationer Arrested After Domestic Violence Incident

The Redding Police Department recently stopped a man who assaulted his ex-girlfriend in spite of a protective order against him –

“On Wednesday, May 13th, 2020, at approximately 7:20 P.M., Redding Police Officers responded to reports of a domestic violence incident in the 1100 Block of Delta Street near Caldwell Park.

The victim, who is not being identified because she was the victim of domestic violence, reported that her ex-boyfriend, 19 year old Richard Anthony Pangelina of Redding, had assaulted her and left the area on foot. Victim also reported that she had a protective order against Pangelina and that he was not to have contact with her.

Responding officers located Pangelina lurking in the area, a short distance away, near the baseball fields off Quartz Hill Road. Pangelina was determined to be on active probation for possession of a concealed firearm. He was searched by officers and found to be carrying a loaded .45 caliber handgun in his waistband. Pangelina has a criminal history prohibiting him from possessing firearms or ammunition.

Pangelina was arrested for domestic battery, being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition by a prohibited person, violation of domestic protection order, and a probation violation. He was booked into the Shasta County Jail.
