Napa County Sheriff issues statement on recent officer-involved shooting

“The Napa County Coroner’s Office has identified the robbery suspect in the Officer Involved Shooting on April 24th, 2020.

Friday afternoon, Brandan Reid Nylander, a 24 year old Napa resident, died at the scene near the Napa Airport. During the robbery, around 2:00 pm, Nylander stole ammunition from a Walmart located on Lincoln Avenue in Napa. A pursuit occurred after officers spotted Nylander’s car on HWY 29 near HWY 221.

Brandan Nylander eventually stopped his car in front of a locked gate by the airport. He got out of his car with a firearm and was shot by a Napa County Sheriff’s Deputy.

The investigation is being conducted by Napa County Sheriff’s Detectives along with the Major Crimes Task Force, which consists of multiple agencies including the District Attorney’s Office.

The Napa County Sheriff’s Office will continue to provide updates as the investigation continues.”
