A Lemoore man is facing a charge of felony animal cruelty after allegedly torturing his horse with a pitchfork earlier this week.

Kings County Deputies responded to the 21000 block of Grangeville Boulevard just after 9 PM on Monday, May 4, where an intoxicated Rogelio Ledezma (45) had allegedly been prodding his horse with a pitchfork while it was tied to a fence.

Indeed, the horse was found lashed to the corral fencing to such an extent that it could barely move, was bleeding from the mouth, and had lacerations to its torso area consistent with possible pitchfork wounds. Deputies say it had also been deprived of food and water.

The pitchfork was found discarded behind the corral.

Deputies arrested and booked Ledezma on suspicion of felony animal cruelty, as well as two outstanding warrants.

Kings County Animal Services responded to the scene and took the horse into their care.
