Visalia PD K9 Takes Down Armed Suspect

Visalia Police officers were called to help with a family disturbance when the situation became violent.

The afternoon of April 25, 2020, officers arrived at a home on the 200 block of East Houston Avenue and were notified 29-year old Luis Viera had attempted to stab a family member with a large kitchen knife, of which he was still in possession.

He fled into a neighbor’s yard when police tried to contact him. A Visalia Police Department K9 was deployed and took down the suspect, allowing officers to arrest Viera.

Viera was booked at the Tulare County Adult Pre-Trial Facility. He could be charged with assault with a deadly weapon, criminal threats, and resisting/delaying/obstructing police officers. He remains in custody as of the time of this writing with bail set at $60,000.
