A call concerning a physical altercation that resulted in a shooting came in to the Mono County Sheriff’s Office on April 12.

Investigators arrived at the scene of the shooting – the Benton Paiute Reservation. Two suspects in the shooting were identified.

Two days later, search warrants were served on two residences in connection with the investigation, and two suspects were arrested.

Marque Santos Marquez was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon, battery with great bodily injury and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Emilio Elizarraraz was arrested and charged with attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and shooting into an occupied vehicle.

Working in this investigation were “members of the Mono County Sheriff’s Office, Inyo County Sheriff’s Department, Bishop Police Department, California Highway Patrol, and the Mono County District Attorney’s Office.”
