HESPERIA – Shots heard in the 16500 block of Fir Street led San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department Deputies to respond to a call at 12:15 AM on 03/30/2020. A white truck was found disabled in the bushes with a male victim inside.

Suffering from apparent gunshot wounds was Valentin Aparicio (36) of Hesperia. A quick transport to the local hospital delivered a grave result – Aparicio was pronounced deceased.

Specialized Investigations Division – Homicide Detail Detectives commenced an investigation, and learned that suspect Jason Maston (47) of Hesperia and Aparicio were “involved in some illegal narcotics business,” said SBSD.

Additionally, “there was conflict between the two men regarding the theft of narcotics and Aparicio went to Maston’s home to confront him,” said SBSD. “Aparicio arrived at the home, there was an exchange of gunfire between Maston and Aparicio, and Aparicio was shot.”

As a result, the currently ongoing investigation led by Homicide Detectives resulted in Jason Maston’s murder arrest in Hesperia on 04/14/2020. He was booked into High Desert Detention Center for Case No. DR#192001950 H#2020-28 – and is being held on $1,000,000 bail.
