Car thief tests positive for Covid-19

Clay and Peach was the scene on the evening of April  10 of the discovery of a stolen car. The suspect driver ran away.

However, an arriving K9 helped locate the suspect in a field. The K9 “detained” the suspect until fellow officers arrived.

After being handcuffed, the suspect said that he had been exposed to someone who tested positive for Covid-19.

Therefore the suspect was taken to a hospital first to be tested. The next day his test results revealed that he indeed was positive for Covid-19.

The five officers involved in the arrest were ordered to quarantine for 14 days. All were sent home.

The Fresno Police Department remarked, “It should be noted the Fresno Police Department arrested this same suspect on March 3rd for the same offense (vehicle theft) and he was released early from the jail. He has since been released again into the community due to the State’s Emergency $0 Bail Rule while our officers are quarantined at home for 14 days”.
