A residential burglary suspect has been arrested on an outstanding homicide warrant in connection to a reported shooting in Bakersfield earlier this month.

Just after 12 AM on March 11, officers found a Hispanic male adult dead of gunshot wounds in the roadway near the intersection of Brundage Lane and H Street.

Investigators soon identified 34-year-old Andrew Nehemiah Barraza as the primary suspect.

Then, this past Sunday, March 29, Kern County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched the 27500 block of Valley West Road in Taft to investigate a residential burglary alarm.

Lo and behold, there was Barraza.

Bakersfield Police responded to the scene and took him into custody on the outstanding warrant. He remains housed at the Kern County Jail.
