Two Yuba City men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery after one of them allegedly tried to cash a stolen check at a bank in Marysville.

Just after 10 AM on Thursday, March 19, an employee at the Umpqua Bank on E Street notified police of a suspicious person who’d just tried to cash a stolen check.

Responding officers arrived in time to see the individual, later identified as 31-year-old Palwinder Mann, leaving the bank and detained him.

Officers also detained 30-year-old Marcelino Ramos Ruiz after finding him sitting in the front passenger seat of a 2005 Toyota Camry, parked right out front.

Officers believe the two had schemed to rob the bank together.

Both men turned out to be on parole, with Ruiz having an active felony warrant for parole violation.

Officers also searched the car, which turned out to be registered to Mann’s mother, and found a loaded .38 special revolver.

Mann and Ruiz have since been booked on felony charges including conspiracy to commit a felony, attempted robbery, and being convicted felons in possession of a firearm and ammunition.
