Woman allegedly ignited structure fire by putting cigar out with Clorox

A 76-year-old woman has been arrested in connection to a structure fire earlier this week in Spring Valley.

Fire personnel arrived on the 500 block of Grand Avenue in Spring Valley to investigate a possible structure fire. At the scene, where someone had set fire to an electrical box.

Leona Head, a local transient, admitted to starting the fire by trying to extinguish a lit cigar with Clorox.

The fire, which engulfed the electrical box, also spread to the roof of the small strip mall type building nearby before fire personnel could put it out. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Leona Head has since been booked on suspicion of arson.
