Three thieves steal gun safe, leave threatening message behind

BRANSCOMB – A residential burglary in progress call came in to the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office on the afternoon on March 13.

The homeowner, a 54-year-old male, was out cutting wood on his property. when he returned, he came upon three adult male individuals in his home.

The suspects fled before deputies could arrive, departing with a “large locked gun safe” in their grasp.

In addition, they vandalized “an expensive television by writing a threatening statement on it with a marker.”

It turns out the victim knew two of the suspects, having dated the mother of one of them.

Therefore, the homeowner gave deputies the address of the mother he had dated. When they went to that residence, they came upon all three suspects.

A search of the vehicle onsite produced items taken in the residential burglary.

25-year-old Winter Costa, 24-year-old Kameron Miller and 21-year-old Lucas Counts were arrested on charges of burglary, conspiracy and felony vandalism.

In addition, Costa was arrested for the charge of criminal threats. The trio are each held “in lieu of $50,000 bail.”
