Salinas police have arrested a registered sex offender on suspicion of annoying or molesting a minor, among other charges.

The department received a call just before 10 AM on March 4 about a man, later identified as 35-year-old Jose Tinajero, following two young girls along the 200 block of West San Luis Street and offering them food.

When officers responded to the scene, Tinajero reportedly barricaded himself inside a nearby restaurant.

He was ultimately arrested with the help of K-9 Officer Charro and booked at the county jail.
