Fairfield man arraigned on murder charge in collision that killed 2-year-old

32-year-old Cirilo Martinez Tellez of Fairfield has been arraigned on charges of murder, leaving the scene of an accident, and driving on a suspended license.

These charges are the result of a pedestrian-vehicle collision in Fairfield on February 23, 2020, in which Tellez is accused of fatally striking a 2-year-old boy with his vehicle on the 1400 block of West Texas Street.

The District Attorney’s Office notes that Tellez has a history of driving under the influence and had a pending court case for same, displaying a conscious disregard for human life, were major factors in filing of a murder charge.

Tellez will remain in custody without bail.
