One day after killing his parents, the Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office reported his arrest for the crime –

“On February 16th, 2020, the deceased bodies of two adults, one male and one female, were located at a residence just North of Crescent City on Lesina Road.

The victims were identified as Brian Gilbert Potter (77 years old) and Sherrie Lynn Potter (71 years old), both residents of Crescent City, Ca. The Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office is conducting an active homicide investigation to determine the time and cause of death.

A suspect is being sought in the investigation by the name of Casey Rhyn Potter (40 years old) of Crescent City, who is the son of the two victims. Casey Potter’s whereabouts are unknown but he is believed to be travelling in the direction of the Eureka area of Humboldt County. Casey Potter is described as a white male adult, 5 foot 9 inches tall, 190 pounds with brown hair and green eyes and he may have injury to his right hand.

A murder warrant was issued for the arrest of Casey Rhyn Potter on 2/17/20. Casey was located and arrested this morning by the Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office in Crescent City with assistance from CCPD. He was in possession of a loaded firearm.”
