The Fairfield Police Department relates a recent incident concerning a fight between two groups of people on their official Facebook page –
“Thursday afternoon, officers were dispatched to a fight reportedly involving weapons in Dover Park, 1600 Flamingo Drive. Upon arriving, officers located a group of individuals matching the reported descriptions provided. The officers on scene also found a bat and a knife on the ground around the group.
Officers conducted a search of the subjects for further weapons and found a handgun concealed on one of them. The handgun was fully loaded with a round in the chamber when it was cleared and made safe. Thomas Hearne (18) of Fairfield was arrested for a number of weapons violations.
Again, you as the community made this happen. If it were not for your involvement, we may not have ever known about this fight. While we were unable to fully ascertain who started the fight due to a lack of cooperation by those involved, we were able to remove an illegally possessed firearm from the situation. Thanks again for the help!”
