A man and a woman from New York were arrested in Palm Springs for illegally cultivating and selling cannabis.

On Monday, February 3, 2020, Palm Springs Code Compliance Officers were tipped off by the “strong odor of marijuana” coming from a building located in the 200 block of W Radio Road, according to the release. “The business was closed and was not permitted to operate as a cannabis facility.”

Riverside County District Attorney’s Office Cannabis Regulation Task Force (CRTF) searched the building and discovered a man and a woman, 60-year-old Chihjon Ho and 57-year-old Huilan Ho, respectively, as well as approximately 1,400 cannabis plants “in various stages of maturation.” Investigation revealed that the suspects were illegally growing and selling cannabis at that facility.

The two were arrested on misdemeanor charges of cultivating cannabis and possession of cannabis for sales, as well as a felony charge of conspiracy to commit a crime.

Both suspects are being held in Banning, CA on $100,000 bail. They are scheduled to appear in court on Friday, February 7th, according to inmate records.
