Man suspected of beating his mother arrested after standoff

Sacramento County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested a man suspected of brutally beating his mother following a lengthy standoff in Orangevale on Thursday December 26th.

On Wednesday December 25th, deputies arrived at a home on the 7100 block of Hazel Avenue in Orangevale to investigate a call about a woman who said her adult son had a gun and was trying to kill her. By the time they arrived, the suspect had fled.

The woman was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

The next afternoon, deputies were told the woman needed to retrieve items from the home and that the suspect may have returned.

When they arrived, the suspect barricaded himself in the house and refused commands to surrender. Eventually, authorities deployed tear gas into the house, at which point the suspect came outside and was taken into custody.

His identity has not been released to the public at this time.
